Privacy Notice
What we collect when you evaluate a submission, why, and how to get rid of it.
What you give us
- Your submission, and any brief, policy, syllabus, slides or rubric you upload.
- Your email address.
- Details we read out of those documents, or that you type on the review screen: university, course, assignment title, marks — and, if it appears, your name and your instructor’s name.
Your instructor’s name
If an instructor’s name appears in your documents, we store it as part of the assignment record. They have not been asked, so we treat it carefully: it is never published, never shared, and never used in any aggregate or marketing material. Leave the field blank on the review screen if you would rather we did not keep it.
Who else sees it
- OpenAI — your submission and supporting documents are sent to OpenAI’s API to be read and evaluated. Data sent through the API is not used to train their models.
- Resend — receives your email address and your report, to deliver it.
Nobody else. We do not sell anything, and we do not share your work with your university.
How long we keep it
Your submission, your report and your email are deleted 30 days after the evaluation.
Course setups are the one exception. When you confirm the rubric and policy for a course, we may keep that setup — the criteria, marks and document text — so the next student on that course does not have to upload it all again. Those are course documents, not your personal information: your submission, your name and your email are never part of a saved setup.
Getting rid of it
Ask us to delete everything at any time, from the deletion page. We will email you a link to confirm it is you, then remove every evaluation tied to your address.
What this is not
FairMark’s output is an AI estimate. It is not a grade, it carries no authority, and it is not a substitute for your institution’s marking. If you show it to your instructor, tell them it was generated by AI.
